Consuelo Aguilar passed away in February 2009 at the age of 27 after a valiant fight against an extremely aggressive form of cancer. A UA graduate, she was committed to improving conditions in the Mexican American community, and helping high school students through her work in the Tucson Unified School District’s Ethnic Studies Department.
The April 3, 2011, event raised over $7,000 and attracted 200 participants. The funds raised for the Walk/Run more than meet the $10,000 required for establishing the endowed scholarship, and the grand total for the Consuelo Aguilar Scholarship Fund is now $13,870.
The Department of Mexican American Studies thanks the following people for their contributions to the success of the event. We couldn’t have done it without you!
