BINATIONAL MIGRATION INSTITUTE SEMINAR SERIES

“DACAmented Voices in Healthcare”:  Engaging immigrant youth as partners through visual participatory action research

Join us for a presentation on innovative research practices exploring how visual participatory research methods can actively engage community partners as collaborators.  “DACAmented Voices in Healthcare” examines the intersection of immigration and healthcare via documentary photography.  The seminar will discuss the participatory research process with “DACAmented” youth who poignantly illustrate their health care experiences through photography and narratives.  The seminar will also examine the role youth can play in developing policy recommendations based on their lived experiences, photographs and narratives. DACAmented Voices in Healthcare” is part of a dissertation project by Sofía Gómez, doctoral candidate at the University of Arizona’s Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.
