About David Cid

I am a third generation Xicano from Boyle Heights, CalifAztlán. I have a BA and an MA in Chican@ Studies from Cal State L.A. I am currently a full-time Ph.D. student in Mexican American Studies with a research interest in reassessing Chican@ urban life through an examination of the multiple insurgent spatial landscapes that emerged during the Chican@ Movement in East Los Angeles and Boyle Heights in the mid-1960s and early 1970s. The work draws from testimonios, collective memories, and archival material (personal documents, photographs, films).
