About Diana López

Diana López was born in El Paso, Texas but raised in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua until she was ten years old. She earned her undergraduate degrees in Psychology, Spanish, and Gender and Sexuality Studies from New Mexico State University where she was recognized as the Outstanding Undergraduate Student of 2018. Her undergraduate honors thesis titled Resistance through Coming Out Stories: Honoring the Voices of the LGBTQ Communities of Color at the Borderlands focuses on the 'coming out' experiences of LGBTQ communities in the El Paso/Ciudad Juarez borderlands through the use of testimonio methodology and queer theory.

For her Master's thesis she focuses on identity formation(s) of women of color living in colonias resisting the constant hyper militarization of their border communities. Diana is also interested in feminicidio, queer migrations, transnational feminisms, globalization and forced migrations.
