On Thursday, April 12, in conjunction with the Run / Walk, the MAS Department will host a symposium focusing on the health of young Latinas that will convene at 4:00 p.m. in Room 205 of the Chávez Building on the UA campus. MAS Assistant Professor Ada Wilkinson-Lee, a public health researcher, and MAS students will make presentations and field questions from attendees. The event is free and open to the public. Wilkinson-Lee’s presentation is titled “Latina Health: Understanding Current Health Issues and Challenges to Accessing Health Care.”
The purpose of Dr. Wilkinson-Lee’s presentation is to provide an overall health profile of young Latinas. She will address health disparities, positive health outcomes, and the challenges young Latinas face when accessing health care services as well as the cultural strategies that can be implemented to overcome these challenges.
